Awana

AWANA logo

Awana is our midweek Bible club for kids ages 3 through 6th grade. The ministry is based on fun and learning. With a team of well-trained leaders, our goal is to make the evening fun, educational and exciting! We play games, learn about Jesus, and make new friends. Game time promotes good sportsmanship, and every night includes a Bible message. It helps to show kids that church isn't boring! Feel free to stop by and see for yourself. Bring your kids and bring the neighborhood kids too! If you have questions, or would like more information, please call the church office or contact our Awana leaders, Brad & Vicky Smith.

Awana helps churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ! This is accomplished through:
     - Fully integrated programs
     - The best evangelism tools to reach unsaved children, youth and families
     - Teaching that builds an enduring biblical faith
     - Resources bringing churches and parents together to disciple the next generation
     - Initial and ongoing volunteer training
     - Healthy mentor and peer relationships
     - Dynamic fun for children, teens and adults alike!

Awana has concluded its sessions for the school year, and will start up again in the fall. Thanks, kids, for a great year! Please refer to our calendar of events for accurate scheduling.

C.A.R.E.

1 Peter 5:2
" Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care serving as overseers not because you must but because you are willing as God wants you to be."

C.A.R.E. ministries (Concerned About Reaching Everyone) is an organized effort to personally welcome each and every visitor to LifeSpring. The mission of this ministry is to show sincere love and concern for each and every person God brings through the doors, enabling them to experience the warmth of God's family and leading them to embrace Jesus Christ as their Savior. C.A.R.E. is a ministry of love. People do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. Through a concerted effort of dedicated C.A.R.E. "shepherds," visitors are welcomed, then friendly cards and notes are sent as a follow-up to the visit. This ministry operates by showing genuine Christian love, without being intimidating, pushy, or intrusive.

C.A.R.E. ministries also believes that regular attendees to LifeSpring need care and compassion. Just because someone is no longer considered a "visitor," does not mean that their presence is not valued. The genuinely concerned people who make up the C.A.R.E. ministry are committed to serving the entire LifeSpring congregation. Since physical illnesses, family crises, emotional challenges, and life in general can be stressful, C.A.R.E. "shepherds" send cards, notes, and offer support on a regular basis to those facing difficulties.

C.A.R.E. ministry sponsors the "Luncheon with Pastor," which gives new attendees the opportunity to talk with pastors and other church leaders in a non-threatening setting. This informal luncheon also allows for open dialogue, where attendees can learn about the different ministries LifeSpring offers.

There are opportunities to minister in a variety of ways, including personal visitation, notes of encouragement, caring for the infirmed and needy. Contactr Rose Omps for more information.

Catalyst

What is Catalyst?

“ Christ in You ~ To Change Your Life ~ To Change the World!”

Catalyst is a community of young adults who have found the amazing life that comes from knowing Jesus Christ. We're convinced that the best life possible is the life that Jesus brings; a life full of hope, peace, purpose, and joy.

Our vision and charge is to impact young adults - both single and married - for Christ in the Greater Valley City/Brunswick/Medina area. The invitation is to come together with others that want real life answers, a place to hang out, and a sense of community that is authentic.

It is unapologetically Christ-centered, exalting Jesus who has rescued each generation. Catalyst exists to build fresh faith into the lives of a generation that at times has been abandoned by their family, their friends, and even their church.

Catalyst exists to tell young adults about solid hope. God has not abandoned them. It exists to fill a gap in our time. Many in our generation have felt left out at church. They want and need to express their faith in service, community, and worship. Catalyst gives identity and recognition to the emerging generation.

How is Christ being an agent of change in your life? Your family’s? The world you live in? Be an agent of change through Christ!

For more information about Catalyst, please contact Pastor Mark.

Children's Ministries
Tom & Debbie Kalin

Mark 10:14
"Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

LifeSpring Children's Ministries is directed by Tom and Debbie Kalin, who recognize the importance and value that Christ placed on children. The model that He demonstrated is embraced at LifeSpring, where many opportunities are presented for children to have fun, explore, and learn in a safe and welcoming environment. Along with a large staff of church volunteers, LifeSpring Children's Ministries plays an integral part in the outreach to the surrounding community. The vision of Children’s Ministries is to provide opportunities for children to come to Christ, helping them embrace His Word, His Promises, and His Love for them.

LifeSpring offers a welcoming and cheerful nursery for children under the age of 4 years old. Staffed with qualified, loving adults, the nursery provides a safe place for children to learn and play while parents attend worship services in the sanctuary.

To ensure a safe environment for your children, all our volunteers must go through a rigorous screening process. Your child's safety is our first concern.

Every summer, LifeSpring offers an exciting vacation bible school program, designed to not only serve the children who attend the church, but to reach out to the surrounding Liverpool Township community.

Children's Ministries also offers many free family oriented activities that are open to the community. The annual Easter Egg Hunt has become a popular crowd pleaser of the local community, and takes place the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Open to children of all ages and located at Valley City Millstream Park, the event features thousands of candy-filled plastic eggs hidden throughout the park for children to find. Along with a Christ-centered message, games, prizes, food, an appearance by the Easter Bunny rounds out a fun-filled day for everyone. Harvest Festival is a safe and fun Halloween alternative that features carnival games, prizes, costume contests, food, and much, much more.

If all that isn't fun enough, during the summer months the Children's Ministries program takes families on camping trips to local camp grounds. Smores anyone?

KidzLife is a multimedia praise, worship, and learning experience that your kids will love. Your children are learning from Dove Award winning Shout Praises Kids curriculum by Integrity Music.

Come and see our new look! Our classrooms have been decorated with murals. We've installed new cabinets and a flat screen TV.

Facts and Figures

Number of children age 17 and younger living in the U.S. - 73.9 million (childstats.gov)

Percentage of kids surveyed who said it’s important to help others. - 90% (Kidscreen magazine)

Percentage of children’s ministry volunteers who report that their understanding of faith was fundamentally shaped by childhood religious experiences. - 71% (Christian News Wire)

Are we overlooking a huge resource and a valuable lesson at the same time?

Statistics show that, in many cases, faith is formed and shaped in childhood. The overwhelming majority of kids feel it’s important to help others. As Christians we are all called to serve others. Are we providing the opportunities for kids to serve?

Circle of Prayer Sisters

The Circle of Prayer Sisters is a ministry where one sister prays for another sister anonymously throughout the year. Here is how it works:

- Participating ladies draw a name at the beginning of the year, and become a Secret Prayer Sister to that sister.

- The Secret Prayer Sister prays for the other sister each day.

- On special days, the Secret Prayer Sister will remember her sister with a card and a small gift of food, candy,

flowers, or literature.

- In December a potluck dinner is hosted at the church and Secret Prayer Sisters are revealed!

- Small gifts are presented by each Secret Prayer Sister to the one they have been praying for all year.

- Testimonies are shared of how God has been working in lives through the prayers of a secret prayer sister.

Special days when Secret Prayer Sisters are encouraged to creativly honor their sister include, but are not limited to:

- Easter
- Mother's Day (if applicable)
- Grandparent's Day (if applicable)
- Birthday
- Wedding Anniversay (if applicable)
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas

When praying for each other, Secret Prayer Sisters are encouraged to pray for their sister specifically. Some suggestions include, but are not limited to:

- pray for them by name
- pray for specific needs (this is where keeping ears open to learn about their sister is important)
- pray for their relationship with Christ
- pray for their job
- pray for their children by name
- pray for their husband by name
- pray for their finances
- pray for their choices
- pray for their health
- pray for their strength

The Circle of Prayer Sisters ministry is a great way for women to stay connected with each other, and with God through prayer. Daily prayer for a sister helps establish a habit of seeking God, and also provides an opportunity for personal growth. The Circle of Prayer Sisters is open to women of all ages. For additional information, please contact Phyllis Haun.

GoodSearch and
       GoodShop

Here is a simple and easy way for everyone to get involved and do something good for LifeSpring. Get connected and see the donations add up!

Imagine if every time you logged on and looked up the caloric content of the snack you just ate, you earned money for charity. With each search you launch on goodsearch.com, about 1 cent goes to the charity or school of your choice. You simply select an organization from a database of thousands or add your own, then tell all your friends, tell your friends to tell their friends and so on. If 1,000 people with the same charity search twice a day for a year, the charity earns $7,300. Wanting to harness for mankind some of the cash advertisers throw at search engines ($6 billion last year), founders Ken and JJ Ramberg partnered with Yahoo!

LifeSpring Community Church is registered with GoodSearch and GoodShop. You can easily make a contribution to our account by simply going to GoodSearch.com and following the simple instructions below. The best thing is that it costs you nothing to participate!

   - On the GoodSearch homepage, choose LifeSpring Community Church from the pulldown list.

   - Search the Internet just like you normally would using the GoodSearch engine— the site is powered by Yahoo!, so you'll get
      high-quality search results.

   - GoodSearch will donate a penny to LifeSpring with each search.

You can now also make your favorite online purchases, and a percentage of your total will be donated to LifeSpring! More than 600 top stores are participating including Amazon, Target, Staple, Best Buy, and more! Go to GoodShop.com and follow the simple instructions at the top of the screen, and then shop at your favorite stores. The amount varies from store to store, but it all adds up. With more and more products being purchased online, the sky's the limit.

Log on to see how much we've earned for LifeSpring so far. Search and shop regularly and see the totals change!

Ladies Bible Study

Thursday Morning Bible Study

Beginning Thursday, July 15 at 11:30 a.m. we'll begin the Beth Moore series, "Believing God". Bring your appetite, a summer salad to share, and a hunger for God's word. Bring a brown bag lunch (unless the group decides otherwise!) for subsequent studies. Study guides are available for $14.95 each. Terry Loyer has taught this series in the past, and is very excited about teaching it again. Her testimony alone is inspiration enough to join the study! Please do not allow financial hardship to prevent you from attending. At LifeSpring, no one is turned away.

For further information and details, email Terry Loyer or call 330.723.3455.

About Beth Moore
Beth founded Living Proof Ministries in 1994 with the purpose of teaching women how to love and live on God’s Word. She has written numerous books and Bible studies, including Breaking Free, Believing God, and When Godly People Do Ungodly Things, that have been read by women of all ages, races, and denominations. Through the years, American missionaries and expatriates have taken the Bible studies overseas, resulting in Beth Moore Bible study groups popping up all over the world. Beth’s Living Proof Live conferences have taken her to thirty-nine states since 1994 and have been attended by more than 421,000 women. God has graciously given her the opportunity to speak to the body of Christ in many different countries, including Ireland, England, Singapore, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and India. With great joy, she began a radio ministry in 2004 called Living Proof with Beth Moore.

Another Bible Study Opportunity!

Beginning Tuesday, March 2 at 9:00 a.m., we are launching a new Bible study entitled, "Fingerprings of God; Recognizing God's Touch on Your Life" by Jennifer Rothschild. Each session will include a half hour video, time for sharing the lessons from our workbook devotional, and sharing of prayer requests. Our Bible study is hosted at the Bailey house, 7225 Lonesome Pine Trail, just a short distance from the church. Please register on the yellow sign-up sheet on the hall table. Workbooks may be purchased from Terry Loyer. We hope you can join us!

LifeSpring Outdoors

There are so many ways to use your talents and interests to serve God. For those who love the outdoors, we have huge flowerbeds on the property, a vegetable garden, fruit trees, and there are plans in the works for an outdoor courtyard. We welcome anyone who is willing to spend some time helping out. It may seem that a landscaping ministry would connect you only with dirt and plants, but it is so much more. Connections to others within the congregation and in the community have been made, and continue to be made. Plus, it's a great way to see some hard work produce something lasting and quite lovely.

Consider joining us as we continue to add to the beauty that is LifeSpring!

LifeSpring maintains a community garden, which provides opportunity for exercising the principle of sowing and reaping. Beth Whitson, our resident green thumb, works with volunteers to organize, plant, maintain, and harvest a variety of fresh vegetables and herbs. This produce is distributed to local families in need, as well as enjoyed by LifeSpring attendees. If you would like to become involved, please contact Beth Whitson.

Jo Ellen Kalin is responsible for the beautiful landscaping and grounds maintenance at LifeSpring. Her passion for creating an aesthetically pleasing display with a variety of plants and flowers is evident. At any given time from spring through fall, visitors are greeted with an eye-pleasing array of color.

Man-to-Man
Marty Naumilket

Man-to-Man group is a place where real men meet to learn what being a follower of Christ and a man is all about. No sissies here! With a focus on accountability and building up one another in Christ, Man-to-Man Bible study group meets the first and third Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. Man-to-Man is a ministry dedicated to helping men find their true center in Christ and not themselves. It is a place that men get together to discuss the great questions of life, from how to tie the best fishing lure to what is the true meaning of life. Sometimes we find the answer, and sometimes we find that knowing we all have the same question is enough. It is a place where you can seek, and not worry about being thought less of. We learn that we all go through the same struggles, but we also learn that being able to identify with other men, being able to count on their support as we discover who we are in Christ, is the help we've known all along that we were seeking but were not too sure how to ask for. We explore what being a real man is all about by modeling our lives after the original real man, Jesus Christ.

Man-to-Man finds creative ways to reach out to the surrounding community to show that men can have fun, as well as maintain a Christian testimony. Outreach includes participation at the annual Valley City Street Fair and building and driving a demolition derby car at the Medina County Fair competition. Because we sincerely believe in the power of prayer, after each breakfast we stop at a pre-selected destination in the local community and pray for the unsaved, hurting, leadership, and other needs of people who live in that area. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord and the community.

The following is a schedule of Man-to-Man regional breakfasts:

  • First Saturday every month - Nancy's Place Restaurant, 426 Main Street in Grafton. Good midwest comfort food and inspiring conversation make this a popular gathering.
  • Second Saturday every month - Bob Evans on St. Rt. 303 in Brunswick, near the I-71 interchange. What else can we say than... Bob Evans: Down on the Farm!
  • Third Saturday every month - Hungry Bear Restaurant, 9261 Norwalk Road in Litchfield, right on the circle, or Famous Gyro George, 1050 Pearl Road in Brunswick. What? Gyros for breakfast, you say? Not to worry... Famous Gyro George cooks up a mean, and very reasonably priced breakfast too!
  • Last Saturday of every month - Men's Pancake Breakfast, 9:00 a.m., the last Saturday of each month. Attendees meet at the church and enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by... you guessed it... men... and is open to men of all ages in the community.

Your Man-to-Man contacts are Marty Naumilket (440) 476-3273, Matt Whitson (330) 760-3552, or Ray Krieger (330) 483-4575.

Mark your calendars for September 18. Man-to-Man sponsored Men's Annual Golf Outing at Dorlon Golf Course. 1:00 p.m. Contact Marty or Matt for further details.

Scramble format. Hot dog luncheon, 18 holes with cart, and a prize for every golfer! $40 paid in advance. Last day to register is Wednesday, September 8. Cancellations by 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9; after that a refund of $24 and a golf prize issued.

Media Arts
Toni Smith

1 Timothy 1:12 (NLT)
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do His work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve Him."

PowerPoint presentations, videos, and movie-making are just a few of the ways that media is used to help LifeSpring come to life! The Media Arts team has many responsibilities each Sunday morning during both worship services. Not only do we create many of our presentations for these services, but we use our collective creativity to incorporate other interesting video clips, slideshows, and visual effects. Our PowerPoint presentations enable us to clearly and effectively display important information in a timely fashion. Additionally, we often incorporate the use of music videos or interesting clips to enhance the teaching of our pastor. We always welcome those interested in becoming a part of this vital "behind the scenes" ministry. If you are comfortable with a computer and want to be part of a fun and expanding ministry….give Media Arts a try.

For more information, please contact the Director of Media Arts, Toni Smith for more information.

New praise team members are always welcome. Please contact Doug Bryant for further information.

Prayer Meetings

LifeSpring is a praying church! "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (James 5:16)

The purpose of this ministry is to develop prayer lives in people, making it as natural as the air we breathe--to take it it outside into our everyday lives and do it with people who don't know Christ! We pray to understand God's will and focus on the things He wants, and to pray accordingly. We believe that prayer is absolutely essential in the health of the church. If we don't seek His face first regarding all ministries in the church, and for life itself, we are wasting our time. It is His church, not ours. We believe in fasting, knowing it really connects us in a more intimate way with Christ. Many have been healed and other amazing prayers have been answered.

Prayer meetings are scheduled the first and third Tuesday evening of each month at 7:00. The first Tuesday meeting gathers at Sue Humphrey's home at 6517 Grafton Road, just 1/4 mile east of Columbia Road. The third Tuesday meeting gathers at the church. We pray for general needs regarding the church, individuals, community and nation.

Because we believe in the purpose and power of prayer, LifeSpring Community Church has a prayer chain, and places great emphasis on the need for prayer in every situation. YOU can send us a prayer request! Your request will be sent to our Internet Prayer Administrator, and then passed along to a small group of people who will initiate intercessory prayer for your concerns. Simply click on the e-mail link below and write to us!

Submit a prayer request.

Prayer Ministries Vision
For prayer to become as natural and necessary as breathing (without ceasing), hence allowing God to bring us into situations where we will pray with anyone at anytime, and so revealing Christ and giving hope to the lost.

Mission
To help believers to know, praise, petition and glorify God through prayer. We will promote prayer by…
   - Holding at least one prayer fast each year.
   - Holding at least one prayer meeting each month.
   - Prayer prior to and for each worship service. Diligent seekers group half an hour prior to the service (all welcome).
   - Prayer circle with Pastor just before service (all welcome).
   - Use of prayer chain ministry.
   - Use of e-mail to promote prayer as needs arise.

Core Values
   - To diligently seek His direction for our very being, our every move, our every decision as individuals and as a church body.
It is His church, not our own.

   - To pray in God’s will (James 4:3; 1 John 5:14).
We must be habitually in His Word. How can we know His will if we do not seek after knowing Him and His character as He
     speaks to us in scripture?

   - To follow Jesus’ pattern - Christ prayed, and we are to be imitators of Christ (John 17).

Christ showed us how to pray (Luke 11: 1-13; Matthew 6: 5-14).

   - To communicate with God - Prayer is communication with God, and as in any relationship, communication is essential.

   - To find God’s grace - Through prayer we receive forgiveness and reconciliation (1 John 1:9).

   - To find God’s direction - Through prayer we receive wisdom, guidance and peace (James 1:5; Philippians 4: 6-7).

   - To discover the importance of fasting - Fasting through prayer is a concentrated search for a moving of God
      (Acts 13:2, 14: 23; Matthew 6: 16-18).

Youth Band

Under the direction of youth pastor and worship leader, Doug Bryant, this dynamic group of teens is learning to worship through the gift of music. With little, or no musical experience, these passionate and talented young people form a band that meets and practices weekly, and occasionally leads the congregation in worship.

The Frontline youth band, Persecuted, is comprised of teens in grades 7-12, who play contemporary rock/worship instruments and sing rock/worship-style vocals. We use guitars (acoustic and electric), drums, vocals, bass guitar, and sometimes electronic keyboard, to give praise to God and to have fun! We lead worship for the Frontline Sunday Night Youth Gathering, and for other ministries as well...(at times we play for the Lifespring Sunday morning services!), and in the future we will be excited to play outside of the church setting.

We also enjoy changing the lyrics to some popular rock songs and remaking them as a Christian song... something to build our faith on that is tremendously fun.
